Colonel Marks is forced to ask for a walking blood bank. Simon reconnects with a former flame (Tia Carrere). Rebecca must plan a staff party. Rebecca and Bobby operate on a severely wounded soldier, and the blood supply dwindles; Simon runs into an old flame (Tia Carrere), a photojournalist who sparks his interest anew; Marks names Rebecca as morale officer; and Vans discovers a new talent.
When a sick soldier is brought in, the bacteria that he is infected with quickly spreads to others in the hospital, forcing a quarantine. When the hospital has an outbreak of an unknown bacterial infection, the OR, ICU and recovery room are quarantined so doctors perform surgery in the dining hall. Meanwhile, Gordon and Pedersen encounter an emergency at a women's clinic off base.
Follow the frantic lives of a military hospital's resident doctors and nurses as they navigate the relentless life-and-death battles on the operating table, and the never-ending conflicts that arise from working in a war zone of Southern Afghanistan. Modelled after the real Canadian-lead NATO Role 3 Hospital, the set is a meticulous re-creation of a portion of the hospital compound and the vast Kandahar Airfield, including the helicopter landing zone, boardwalk area and barracks, which housed over 15,000 military and civilian personnel.
